Preserving Interflow Packet Order in Multipath Switching Systems Using Flow-Based Slicing For Congestion Avoidence

چکیده
Congestion avoidance is an important traffic engineering task, which can be performed by making use of loadbalancing technique when a link is over loaded or failure of link occur in Multi-Path Switching Systems . Multipath Switching Systems are capable of transferring high rate data in networks. As preserving the inter flow packet orders while avoiding congestion is a major issue in consideration and previous packet based solutions require packet reordering which cause delay penalties. In this paper we use a flow-based slicing scheme which slits each flow in to slices at every interflow interval larger than the slicing threshold and balances the load to a finer granularity. We depict that flow-based slicing achieves inter flow packet ordering with little network cost while minimizing the packet out of order probability to negligible level comparatively less than 10.

Back packet-based solutions suffer delay penalties or have to OðN2Þ hardware complexity, th...

We propose an adaptive flow-level multipath routing-based traffic engineering solution for an IP backbone network carrying TCP/IP traffic. Incoming TCP flows are switched between two explicitly routed paths, namely the primary and secondary paths, for resilience and potential goodput improvement at the TCP layer. In the proposed architecture, primary paths receive a preferential treatment over ...

Multiprotocol over ATM (MPOA), IP switching and multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) have distinctly different mechanisms for cut-through packet forwarding. MPOA and IP switching use flow-based cut-through (FBC) forwarding while MPLS uses routing table linked cut-through forwarding (TLC). This paper examines the sensitivity of each these cut-through forwarding mechanisms to changes in underlyin...

A class of packet switching systems with inverse multiplexing of switched connections and/or flows (the SCIMUX architecture) has been recently proposed. Such systems open the possibility to use the readily available switch fabrics and port cards in order to build fullyfunctional packet switches, operating at rates much higher than those of their own components taken in isolation. While a compre...
